Armenian Block Party, Business Proposal Example

Pages: 3

Words: 709

Business Proposal

The Armenian Block Party will be hosted by [insert name of organization]. It will be located in the area of Los Angeles known as Little Armenia. The block party will be hosted for two days from [insert dates] and going from [insert time] to [insert time]. The cost of the Armenian Block Party will be [insert cost]: this accommodates street permits. Potential donors for the Armenian Block Party include: Nike, Coke, Pepsi, Chase Bank. Other projects and proposals that relate to the Armenian Block Party include RAFFI Romanian-Armenian Cultural Non-Profit Organization, and the Armenian-American Community. These organizations will be approached in order to find out if they want to display or set up a booth at the block party in order to generate interest in their organization. This block party is a good way for these organizations to get noticed, especially since the majority of the crowd at the block party will have some kind of association or impetus to join these organizations – or at least to be aware of them. The Armenian Block Party will seek the following agency for permits: Street Service Investigation and Enforcement Division (for the temporary closure of streets in the City of Los Angeles). The permit will be given 45 days before the event in order to ensure proper processing time. We will also have general liability insurance, as this is a requirement of Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 41.20.

This block party will fuel a need in the Armenian culture that seems to be lacking Los Angeles. There are a great many Armenians living and working in L.A. County, and as such, they need a cultural heritage day or two in order to re-identify with their culture. This will boost their morale, and make them feel as a sense of identity and association with the fellow Armenians that attend the block party. Also, there aren’t a lot of culturally identifiable days, festivals, parties, parades, etc. that highlight Armenian: this will be a great chance for everyone to get to task authentic Armenian food, see live performances by Armenian artists, and get a general sense of Armenian aesthetic while at the block party. Thus, the block party serves as a way to generate identity and educate people about Armenian culture.

The block party’s objective are the following: having live music on seltzer stages, having street vendors serve authentic Armenian cuisine, selling traditional Armenian cultural items (such as clothing, jewelry, etc.). These will help to ensure that Armenians who attend the block party feel as though their cultural heritage is being displayed and enjoyed and will also help to promote aesthetic values of Armenian culture to other people.

The block party intends to have the following results: the success of the block party will boost Armenian morale and help Armenians to feel as though they are being welcomed into L.A. County, Armenians will feel as though they have a special day that celebrates them and their culture, other people will begin to better understand Armenian culture and appreciate it, vendors will make money selling Armenian cuisine, performers will gain a larger audience base by the exposure they get at the block party. Also, the stores located in this block will have a boost in their sales as well as people who don’t normally frequent this area will be buying items from the stores. This boost in sales will also be seen by the city in a boost in tax revenue, plus, the press coverage of the city allowing an Armenian block party will be seen in a positive light.

The project will be implemented and managed in the following capacities: an event coordinator will ensure that vendors arrive the night before to set up shop, the stage is built to city specifications of safety, all necessary permits required are acquired and in the necessary hands by the time the block party is scheduled to begin. All safety issues have been dealt with by the coordinator and their team: issues such as electrical outlets for the vendors and stage, all necessary parking, and parking permits are required for vendors, cars, and public parking is accessible for everyone. Also, safety issues such as possible rain, electrical issues, crowding, etc. will be preemptively thought about and have a contingency plan.
