Art of Persuasian: A Better Grade, Movie Review Example

Sometimes a grade in a college course does not reflect the work, commitment, and knowledge that was inputted and gathered by the student. In a high level doctorate course, such as “Personal Leadership Development”, a large amount of intense work, philosophical thinking, writing, and studying is demanded. In addition, graduate students are highly critiqued and expected to be flawless in their testing and writing. I feel that a lower grade on an exam or a research paper occurs due to human error and does not exactly correlate to the actual knowledge the student possesses on those topics. Therefore, graduate level students should be graded on their time, commitment, effort, and expressive knowledge of the course, not just on test scoresand research paper grades.

I feel that I have surpassed the standard requirements for the above course and I have committed the time and effort that should reflect a higher grade. More importantly, I have left the class with the knowledge the course provided, as well as new leadership skills that I can implement into my personal life and career. Finishing a doctorate level course and leaving with a substantial amount of knowledge that can be applied to everyday situations, as well as the workplace, is the purpose of a course at this level in education. Most graduate students are already in the midst of their careers and some have families as well. That being said, life issues arise spontaneously and can disrupt or distract a student from memorizing every detail that would be asked on an exam or editing a paper to perfection. Although, it should be noted of the mistakes, especially for future reference, it is not an indication of the knowledge obtained from the course.

Overall, I have gained leadership knowledge from this course that I continually use on a daily basis in both my personal life and career. In addition, I have devoted more than the expected time and effort appropriate for this course and I feel that my grade does not reflect this commitment. A higher grade in this course would reflect my overall gain and efforts from this course.
