Aside from a bit more complexity, how do we shift the audience level?

The audience level deals with a variety of factors, including the intrinsic lesson learning in the reading, the sentence structure, and the word choice used. Shifting the audience level doesn’t necessarily deal with complexity, rather the content of the story. Ultimately, different stories are meant for different age groups. For example, both children’s stories and literature for adults can deal with similar issues such as witches in fantasy. However, the children’s book would likely involve a journey and some kind of hero, and have a clear difference between good and evil. Meanwhile, the adult story would have blurred lines between good and evil and likely contain more details.
