The Emergence and Impact of the DNP Degree on Clinical Practice, GCSE Coursework Example

Pages: 1

GCSE Coursework

Clinical competencies are a critical measure in the development of strategies to improve comprehensive care for patients; therefore, it is necessary to develop and master these competencies to facilitate effective performance results at the DNP level (Smolowitz, Honig, & Reinisch, 2010). DNP students must be prepared to manage a variety of complex issues throughout their careers; therefore, the information provided in this book offers a useful reference in order to accomplish these objectives. It is important for DNP-level practitioners to recognize the importance of these competencies in promoting scholarship and support for improving patient care quality at the practice level and to demonstrate the importance of understanding patient needs at a practical level.

The DNP-educated nurse must be prepared to assume a leadership role and to provide support in advancing the practice environment to the next level, and this is accomplished through continuing education and a need to improve policies as necessary (Ahmed, Davis, & Fuller, 2012). This process is instrumental in enabling patients to receive advanced practice care and treatment at the bedside that is focused, specific, and attentive to their needs, while also engaging patients in a variety of solutions, some of which may be new and/or unconventional, based upon prior experience (Berkowitz, 2014). This reflects the importance of shaping an environment in which DNP students are able to understand the role and impact of critical appraisal and how to translate knowledge into practice that is meaningful for patients (Moore & Watters, 2013). This perspective is also essential in supporting DNP-based practice objectives that delineate core competencies and other focus areas that are grounded in clinical evidence. This information is critical to the success of the DNP-level nurse and the development of new frameworks to accommodate patients in a variety of situations, using practical resources to accomplish these needs in the desired manner.
