Abstract

This aim of the research is establishing the prevalence of drug trafficking and the associated effects of this vice on the individuals both directly and indirectly involved in this vice and society (Aurina, 2002). Previous research on the subject indicates that a larger portion of the society other than the active individuals feels the effects involved and hence this research aims to elaborate the subject further (Barack, 2011).

Introduction

Today’s society seems affected by many of the consequences related to drug use. The problem of drug trafficking has extensively been part of the worldwide society (Paul, 2009). Establishment of various methods to combat this vice by the implementation of policies aimed at controlling and reducing incidences of drug trafficking. Despite these policies drug trafficking still exists and poses threats, which include increased criminality, violence, and drug related health complications. According to Jill (2010) these drugs endanger the society and in order to avert a rise amongst the population multiple policies to deter it become necessary.

Literature review

Bauder (2007) posited that the main factor involved in drug trafficking is money. The money factor in drug trafficking is what pose a serious difficulty in its control. The factor of money in drug trafficking is far reaching, and at times it is a compromise by law enforcers. It is, therefore, due to this factor the effort to curtail drug trafficking has limited effects(Roni, 2003).

Method

The conduct of the research will be through secondary sources and interviews. The interviewees selected based on an unbiased random procedure with regard to gender equality. The data obtained analyzed using tables and charts (Harris, 2009). The tabulated data analyzed based on two variables; direct effects and indirect effects and thereafter an inference made.
