The nature of the business is to acquire trade names, trademarks, rights, proprietary names, assets, and other properties. The Coca Cola Company seeks to produce, mix and process, compound clarify, distill, bottle, and prepare non-alcoholic beverages. The company does a business of buying, manufacturing, dealing in materials, selling by-products, compounds, and preparation of different characters to and description to sell, and deal with carbonated waters and other gases in collaboration with distilled water and other gases to manufacture beverages (Lopez, 2002).
Coca Cola is the leading company in the global industry of manufacturing, distribution and marketing of non-alcoholic drinks. The company holds a multi- national market share in the more than 200 countries. It has diversified its manufacturing of soft drinks, and it is currently producing fruit juice and non-soda drinks. The company distributes most of its products through retail outlets, vendors, and restaurants. The company has marketing tactics, which have made its products dominate the global market. Since its inception, the company has been losing most of its engineers to other companies. Immediately after training the engineers on how to use different machines, the engineers would be deployed to operate various machines at the company’s branches around the globe. With the massive investments in the engineering industry, employees would leave the company after working for a few years. This affects the company negatively because valuable resources like money and time are wasted in training and hiring new employees (Lopez, 2002).
Describe the main legal concerns of the organization and recommend how those concerns should be addressed.
Coca Cola Company has been accused of kidnapping, murdering and intimidating employees in different bottling plants. As a result, trade unions organized for an international boycott of the company’s products. The company is battling a lawsuit against the famous SINALTRAINAL. In order to address the above legal concern, the company should support trade unions and allow its employees to be art of trade union activities. This is because the unions provide a ground where employees can air their demands thus such legal issues are likely to be avoided (Lopez, 2002).
Determine how the organization should address current (or anticipated) human resource issues concerning expanding into international markets.
In order to expand and remain competitive in the global markets, the company should be able to train and retain its employees properly. It can offer assistance in the form of continuing education because employees will work at the same time furthering their studies making them competitive. Traditional training and development of global employees is also necessary at the company. In order to address the issue of human resource, the company should establish management development centers globally for its employees. In addition, classroom programs will help in providing multinational executives with the necessary knowledge needed to build their functional skills. Moreover, it is advisable for Coca Cola to train more engineering staff so that they can replace the ones leaving the company (Jones, 2010).
Coca Cola Company owns two valuable assets. The company is built around its people and brand. The company utilizes the two assets to accomplish its primary promise of keeping people refreshed and making a difference. The company believes in creating a working atmosphere that leverages its global team rich in diverse ideas and talents (Idowu, & Filho, 2009).
Make recommendations concerning how the organization can leverage its human resources to come out on top in a highly competitive environment.
The employees of the company have a unique culture: employees of the company believe in the unique culture of sharing. Through this culture, they have been able to nurture everything that they do. They base their activities on passion. This does not mean that the company uses a single formula to succeed in the competitive market. They know that they have to combine a number of factors in order to succeed. Some of the factors include being technically creative and brilliantly analytical. The company has employees who shine because of being innovative while others are leaders. Most of the employees are extremely committed to change and are always watching out for more sustainable ways of carrying out business with an aim of remaining competitive (Jones, 2010).
The current business environment is highly competitive, and organizations ought to fight the competition in order for them to survive. The company has a business team that is vibrant and operates in more than 200 countries around the world. The over 300 bottlers contracted by the company helps by manufacturing and distributing the products to consumers and customers around the world. This system is so flexible and helps the company to sell its beverages and make an immediate response whenever there is a need. In the last 2 years, it is shown that the company had helped thousands of people in disaster stricken areas by delivering beverages when they were in need. Coca Cola Company has dedicated good sums of money and time to offering help to communities through challenging times. Such activities have helped the company to remain competitive while expanding in the global market (Idowu, & Filho, 2009).
