Setting

The setting of the movie ‘Death of a salesman’ is done in a house with transparent walls. However, the real setting of the movie is done in a house that is incomplete and without wall to allow characters to move in and out of the house easily. In addition, some of the walls of the house do not connect to each and this allows the audience to have a better glimpse of the inside of the house. The house in which the movie is set has a fence around it and the backyard is a dirty site that depicts the real life of the main character in the movie.

The house where the setting of the movie takes place lacks proper furnishing. The setting is meant to show how much the main character in the movie is struggling with life and the hardships that he is facing. However, the setting has taken keen caution to ensure that the quality of the movie is tampered with by ensuring that it is not that horrible.  On the other hand, the setting of the movie has utilized a number of colors that are meant to show the contrast of the scenes in the movie. Among the colors depicted in the movie include white, black and red.

Story

The story in the movie ‘Death of a salesman’ revolves around the main character, Willy Loman. In the first scene of the movie, Willy has a cancelled business trip and it adds to his woes for he had recently had a car accident. He comes home frustrated, tired and feeling dejected. In the aftermath, the sixty-year old man goes to seek a job in his boss’s office but instead, Howard. On the other hand, Willy’s son Billy is also seeking to kick-start his life by looking for something to give him an income. Still, the business proposal that he relies on does not turn out successfully as he expected.

His other son, Happy is a womanizer who does nothing but move around with women. Depressed and having suffered for the most part of his life, Willy feels that life is overburdening him and he contemplates on committing suicide. In the movie, it is clear that Willy loves his two sons as a parent and whenever they need him, he is always there for them and gives his full attention. Among the major characters in the story include the main character Willy Loman, his wife Linda Loman, their sons Biff and Happy. Others include Charley, Bernard, Uncle Ben, Miss Francis, Howard Wagner, Jenny, Stanley, Miss Forsythe and Letta.

Personal Opinion on the Movie

Set in the early 20^th century, the movie ‘death of a salesman’ is a movie that touches all hearts for it is very emotional. The movie is a real depiction of the life of an ordinary citizen and the kind of life that they go through. From a personal point of view, the setting of the movie is on point. For example, the transparent walls ensure that the audience has a clear view of the setting without straining. On the other hand, the walls that do not connect have given it a perfect connection to the story because it of the ways that Willy and his family are living an uncertain life. However, the movie gives the audience a bad feeling because it is gloomy and enhances emotions in the hearts and minds of the audience. As the story is depressing, the movie is rather a lesson to the audience on how life can be hard and how life can be frustrating at times.
