Depression during Old Age, Personal Statement Example

Have you ever imagined how lonely it will get when you are in your old age when all of your children have found their footing, pursued their courses and established their mantra in the face of life, and achieved their burning desires to be independent, and moved out to enjoy their newly acquired statuses, leaving you and your spouse in a large beautiful house, two older people soothing each other and never wanting to let go? Imagine it, think it, drink it, close your eyes, and float in the idea of a fully lived life, family, career, and health. Doesn’t it add up to a life well lived when your children have found their way up to the top and have meetings and engagements all day long, too busy to reach out and ask you, their tired parents, how it is going, pumping depression into your sunken watery eyes?

Smitten with love for success at an early age, desire to push everyone around beyond their limits for optimal success, all the way to the top, where it is pretty lonely, and then old age starts to creep in, and now everyone else you helped climb the ladder cannot come downtown, to the lonely streets, to spend a weekend so to say. You begin to think about what had happened, even on the silent nights when the croaks have gone on vacations; then it hits you that you have no one but your large house and a depressed partner you cannot soothe enough. Do you get the picture now? Do you think your children will visit you often or put you through daycare to have someone watch over you on their behalf because they have all the money with zero time? You wither away towards your end times; you are now beyond sad, beyond depressed; loneliness has become your name, hasn’t it?
