Why You Want to Be a Nurse, Personal Statement Example

Nursing has had a special place in my heart from a very early age. This is because I admire the art of serving others. In addition, the work that nurses do is generally very appealing. It is because of this that I was drawn to nursing. I believe I am the best candidate for nursing, considering how affectionate I am towards providing uttermost care and love. I am well aware that one of the most important traits that are desirable in the life of a nurse is the duty of care, and I believe that I bring the same to the table.

I feel I am more than qualified for the post based on my academic credentials., I graduated in the fall of 2020 as a biology major. In addition, I am a licensed nursing assistant with two years of experience in that capacity. I am a certified nursing assistant in many states, including Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Wisconsin. This demonstrates my adaptability and ability to operate in a variety of settings. The freedom allowed me to travel from state to state, supporting hospitals in places such as Pennsylvania and Wisconsin that were understaffed. This reflects nicely on my attitude and desire to assist others.

I believe I have the required skills to fit perfectly in the profession. I picked up said skills such as leadership while working as a certified nursing assistant. I can apply said skills in my role as a nurse to better influence the sectors positively. An excellent example is ensuring that patients are treated appropriately. I am also empathetic; this is an important trait because I can better relate to the patients and address their cases with care. I also have excellent research skills. This is important because it will help me take an in-depth approach while handling patient cases.

While working as a certified nursing assistant, my love for the profession heightened, and I desired to upgrade from said role to a career as a nurse. I also desire a comprehensive view of the world and everything encountered in nursing. That said, my application to nursing school tables the opportunity for me to achieve a long-time dream and objective. However, I believe that I can best apply the skills to the in-patient setting, especially in the neurosurgical department, to handle patients with injuries. The reason being such patients often require a lot of attention that I believe I can successfully give.

I also believe that venturing into nursing will help polish some of my skills, such as research. Considering that I plan to practice the same for over five years, I believe I will be better placed to research the same and understand how I need to relate to patients better. I am confident that I would be a great addition to the profession if given the opportunity. I am academically strong and am sure I would be able to understand and keep up with everybody in the class if not ahead of them. It is for a reason stated that I applied for a position to study nursing and hope that I can be granted that opportunity.
