Effects of Rise in Health Benefits Charges, Article Writing Example

For a long time now, Harvard has been the main advisors to the government on the best way to provide healthcare for the American citizens. However, their advices are now going to apply on them and the Harvard officials are against it. This paper aims at summarizing the key issues captured in this discussion and examining whether the issues discusses are true or not.

In summary, this discussion examines the possibility of health costs being shared between the employer and the employee. In addition, it is noted that if employees are burdened with more health costs, they will scamp on medical care unnecessarily hence limiting the functionality of the more valuable services.

Firstly, the intention of this article is to prevent Harvard from implementing the new policy which requires the employees to pay more for health benefits. According to Holtzblatt, increasing health benefit money burdens citizens with extra financial constraints, while some people decide to ponder instead of using it valuably (Holtzblatt, 2010).  In addition, Prof. Thomas is right when he observes that the changes will be exploitve to the university’s staff, and they will convert the university into a business.

In addition, these changes introduce the concept of consumers sharing which tends save money but under the circumstances in Harvard at the time, the consumers will make choices that do not work for their betterment of their health. According to Solomon, Bennet and Previte, consumers sharing will impact negatively to employees especially on instances of high out-of –pocket costs. Hence, it is advisable to abolish that system.

Conclusively, it is clear that introducing increased health benefits to employees will result to financial constraints while some people will misuse the situation by using the situation for minor illnesses. Finally, consumer sharing which will be problematic when a situation of high-out –of-pocket costs arises.
