The role of nurses in the health industry could be better understood to be based on the specific desire to save lives of patients being cared for. However, there is this concept of confidentiality of matters; one that holds the nurse responsible for keeping information that the patients hold much value for [as a sense of self-preservation]. Relatively, it could be understood that somehow, this is where ethical issues arise. In the case of Lora, the abuse that she was experiencing from her father is sure to create long term effect on her being, her thinking and could even cause further problems that would be specifically critical in relation to Lora’s individual development.

For her case, it could be understood that the nurse should first think of her primary role with respects to life. The nurse needs to make sure first that the patient is safe; after all, it is what she is basically expected to secure. The role of confidentiality intends to practically question that loyalty and respect for privacy that the nurse is also in need of realizing as part of her core responsibilities. In this case though, life comes first and reporting the matter to the authorities who have better understanding of the situation and may have better resolutions to be offered for the betterment of the patient is an essential part of preserving the life of the patient involved. Noticeably, it could be understood that in this choice, there is always something that should be sacrificed, and in this particular situation, the choice to save the life of the patient is an inevitable matter to pick for the sake of securing the being of the patient while she recovers from the health situation she needs to deal with.
