Research Paper

Analyzing the feasibility of change has many practical applications in the health care setting. In particular, this allows nurses to determine how they could change practice in order to better support the needs of their patients, it allows researchers to determine how they can alter treatments and other aspects of the medical field to more effectively treat disease, and it allows the institutional administration to gain a better understanding of how financial and physical resources can be used more efficiently.

To determine whether change in any of these aspects of health care are feasible, it is important for health care professionals to conduct a study that allows them to assess the current state of affairs of the organization that will allow them to determine a coherent study plan to analyze the potential value of an intervention in addition to identifying what the intervention should be (Treasure et al., 2012). Often, this involves conducting a quantitative and qualitative analyze of hospital data, which may include patient data, administrative and finance data, and identifying trends that have been observed within the institution over a specific range of time (Onwujekwe et al., 2012).

Once the background information to a feasibility of change study is understood and a relevant research project is designed, the researcher must determine the quality of the intervention. In many cases this data may be generated by observing trends in patient recovery or assessing patient opinions by issuing quality surveys. These results can then be analyzed in a manner that will determine if the changes that were made have any value and whether future studies are needed to confirm the validity of the change. If definitive results are not found, it may be necessary to modify the study and begin exploring the relationship of change from the beginning.
