Critique & Application of a Theory Useful in Family Nursing

  1. Rationale for selection of theory

The stress theory specifically deals with the holistic being of an individual. This suggests that as one deals with the pressures of life, he becomes indulged in the courses by life occurrences become highly dictating on how he is supposed to decide on important matters. This occurrence then further results to more stressful outcomes that most often than not bring about frustrations and anxieties on the part of the person or persons involved in a particular case. Since the approach of the theory is rather holistic, it is highly applicable when dealing with a patient and the family that he or she is involved with. The stresses that a person experiences may come from different aspects, and the family and its members could do well to help ease or worsen the situation. Relatively, this means that how a family understands the principles of stress theory could help well in pacing the recovery of a patient faster.

  1. Description of process of family assessment using theoretical model

Noting the descriptive patterns of stress theories definition of pressure and stress issues that an individual develops, it could be observed that it would be much easier to assess family role in patient recovery especially in the field of providing family nursing services. Helping each family take his or her own role in lessening the source of stress through understanding, adjustment and cooperation would eventually make it easier for the patient to focus on recovering than on dealing with issues that might be causing him or her the anxieties that keep recovery at a slower pace.

  1. Critique the theory framework

The field of nursing does not only involve being able to care for the need of the sick. Instead, it also includes the need of the nurses to be specifically concerned about the environment of the patient and how that environment affects the recovery process of the patient. Notably, through the application and recognition of the stress theory and its principles gives a conclusive definition on how effective holistic family approach is when it comes to easing the process of recovery for patients even when they are probably within a specifically terminal situation. The practical utilization of the stress theory and its principles in family nursing procedures creates a more holistic approach to curing a patient’s physical case through easing out the psychological source of strength and belief of the said individual.
