Football Safety, Article Critique Example

According to the author, research conducted in the recent past reveals that, football poses significant safety issues to the brain of the players which has resulted to a declined participation in the game. Available statistics have pointed at the dangers that are associated with football to the health of brain. The role of the coaches and the parents has therefore been centered on fighting the stigma which is associated with the safety issues of playing football to children in schools. It is also prudent that the players are constantly subjected to brain scans and in most cases, such tests have revealed some abnormalities which are linked to some antibodies present in the body of the player (Samuels, 2015).

The author suggests that, foot is a game that is associated with a lot of fun but the style of the game is inherently violent. It involves a lot of body collisions with tremendous force which can easily compromise the safety of the player. Injuries are common occurrence when playing in the game some of which may be grievous to warrant emergency medical attention. It is therefore imperative that all safety tips are considered when playing the game.

The author also points out that the violent nature of football and the many people involved makes the game to be a serious cause of injuries. The injuries may range from minor pains as well as aches, knee injuries, injuries to the shoulders, sprains and concussions (Colgate, 2011). However, majority of the injuries that are associated with football are preventable through wearing appropriate equipments, use of suitable technics as well as observing the rule of the game.
