Goal Statement, Application Essay Example

Based on the research I have done, Cornell Johnson is a great institution for its programs. I plan to pursue my MBA and use the skills I gain to pursue the career I have always desired. As a child, I was interested in accounting, just like every young child. But my father had a small store, and I became interested in how he handled the store’s money. When I grew up, I later discovered that this aspect I was interested in was Strategic Operations. I would pursue an undergraduate degree but felt that was not enough to compete in this ever-changing economy. I was then absorbed into the job market, and as of today, I have two years’ worth of experience in supply chain management.

Immediately after I complete my MBA, I plan on working as a Supply Chain Manager at the Intel Corporation within the technology industry. The job will involve negotiating contracts with suppliers and clients, planning and implementing logistical strategy, and also sourcing the required products from suppliers. This is a job that plays into a skill set that I already possess since I am a very organized and detail-oriented person. This will give me the necessary skill set that I plan on using later on.

My upbringing and the skills I have gained along the way have molded me into the person I am today. From the time I used to help my father run his business to me going to school and discovering my interest in Strategic Operations, this has been my journey. Some people are interested in banking but lack the proper framework of support and knowledge to actualize their vision. I am passionate about the banking industry, and later on, hopefully, one day, I will be able to teach what I have learned to the next generations of youth who are like me and want a mentor
