Understanding how Environment Affects Nurses’ Performance

Nurses are expected to provide extensive care especially to patients needing immediate attention when emergency situations occur. In the desire of creating more effective nursing services in major healthcare institutions at present, several elements of affective considerations are given particular attention to. Among the studies that address such matter include Maureen Shawn Kennedy’s article on Healing Environments for Everyone: Facilities that don’t consider staff miss the point. In this article, Kennedy insists that when it comes to providing the most effective sense of support to patients, institutions providing such medical assistance should be able to take into account the need to give attention to the needs of the staff members first. Through a consistent process of observing the current operations of major healthcare facilities at present, it could be understood that the capacity of nurses to perform is most often than not based on how they are able to deal with their environment [which includes the people as well as the facilities they are supposed to work with].

Another article pertaining to this matter is that of McHugh’s (et al, 2013) research entitled Hospitals with higher nurse staffing had lower odds of readmission than with lower staffing. It is pointed out within this writing that having ample staff members to work on specific medical cases is very important in determining what is understood as efficient nursing services. Discussing in part the Affordable Care Act’s Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program or the HRRP, this article tends to point out how more staffing of nurses reduces stress among the workers as they face the most complicated situations among their patients. It could be assumed that the reduction of readmissions in the medical field depends so much upon the condition of work load that is given to each nurse.

Investment among nurses, their skills, their training and their environment is an important factor of introducing effective culture of healthcare service operations provided to patients. US hospital patients have been experiencing proper healthcare attention based on the constructive effects of developmental procedures adapted by some of the healthcare institutions existing in the said community. These adaptations rely on the investment that the institutions place upon the need to embrace a better sense of development especially among individuals that they have hired to take on the responsibilities of giving ample care to patients admitted in their institutions. Dedicated to improving patient-recovery rates, there are instances when some of these institutions go beyond the limits of even putting technology as part of their developmental operations, thus reducing the pressure upon nurses especially when it comes to recording data about patients and their point of development.

Based from the studies given attention in this analysis, the problem of reduced interest and efficiency of work among workers in the medical industry could be countered accordingly especially when it comes to making a definite term of development on how the values of improvement in function is given attention by administrators. What is most important is that the nurses themselves be willing enough to accept the points of transformation they have to embrace. Relatively, such concept of understanding does increase the capacity of every nurse to function well depending on the roles they are expected to take into account.

When the capacity of nurses is to be given attention to; administrators are not only assuring good camaraderie with their employees. Instead, they are assuring their patients with good assumptions of excellent service and attention given to them in the form of supportive systems helping them to recover faster and acquire healthier status of living in a much stable form of function and performance from the staff members of the institution.
