HIV/Aids Prevention Effort in a Developing Country, Case Study Example

Question 1

In RNW the resources use to support health, promotion is from the international aid agencies. The resources are used fororganizing and administrating the health promotions in the community. RNW should other local aid agencies, which are funded locally by the government. In the local agencies, there will be health professionals and government representativeswho will assist the affected people. The local agencies will work together with the international agencies in organizingprograms where the people in the rural or urban areas will be educated on how to deal with the affected people.

Factor 1

The social assessment is the first point, which should be tackled by the RNW government (Kohler & Thorndon 2012, p. 103). This will enable RNW to know the rate of transmission and the most affected people. As a result, RNW will knowwhere to start when handling this situation. The people in RNW who were practicing agriculture have dropped their dailytasks due to lack of capital and inputs. The people affected by this situation have move to urban areas with the intention of getting employment opportunities. This has been opposite because on reaching the urban areas there is no employmentmaking them enter into commercial sex. This stimulated the rate of transmission of HIV and increase in the affectedpeople. The government of RNW should do something on this problem. RNW should subsidize the inputs or design a waythat the farmers get free inputs. This will enable the farmers to remain in rural areas and they will escape the trap of becoming commercial sex workers. In addition, RNW should make sure that those migrating to urban areas looking for a job in industries get their respective jobs. This is through establishment of more industries I urban areas to accommodatehose moving to urban areas looking for jobs.

Factor 2

Another factor in RNW is lack of social institutions where people from both sexes can meet and interact without engagingin commercial sex. This will make many people be idle during their free time and they will be tempted to engage in commercial sex. RNW government should establish social institutions like schools, athletic, and soccer clubs. Theseinstitutions will make people of different sex interact together and become busy (Schwartländer & Padian 2011, p. 129). When they become busy, they will not engage in commercial sex, which will reduce the rate of transmission of HIV.

Component One

The first component is the government of RNW to intervene on the situation through funding. The resources will be usedfor arranging for programs where people are educated on the effects of HIV to individuals and the country. In theseprograms, people are taught on how to prevent themselves from the infection of HIV. In addition, contraceptives like condoms should be distributed and the people are taught on how they can use. The government should be giveninformation about the costs of handling the problem of HIV. Due to high costs, the government will respond immediatelyto the problem to reduce the costs.
Component 2

Another step to be taken by RNW is to mobilize health professionals, international agencies, and residents to work closelyin preventing HIV infection and transmission. The health professional will perform should work closely with the peopleto assist them on how to take care of the infected people and how to prevent themselves from the infection. The residentsshould cooperate with the health professionals on following the guidelines given on how to deal with infected people andprevent themselves. On the other hand, international agencies will assist in the donation of funds to be used in theprograms and other facilities.
Component 3

The last component is for the RNW government to make its residents busy and financially stable. This will enable thepeople to have enough funds to sustain their lives. This is through creation of job opportunities where people will be employed and they earn a living. The people will be busy all throughout the day and they will not get idle time that theycan engage in commercial sex (Kohler & Thorndon 2012, p. 92). In addition, as they are having enough funds to sustaintheir lives, they will not engage in commercial sex to earn a living.

Attitude issue 1

The first attitude, which hinders prevention campaigns against HIV, is a negative attitude on the infected people. Theinfected people will lose hope in their lives, as they are sure that t the end of it all they have to die. They will ignore thetreatment and even neglect the advice from the family members. RNW should organize programs where people are encouraged that, despite the infection, they can lead their normal life as they take medication.

Attitude issue 2

The second issue is on the people who are practicing commercial sex or any other sex. This is because they practiceunprotected sex after which they will transfer the infection to their family members. Many men ignore the use of condoms when playing sex with the sex workers. This is because they feel that the condom interferes with the enjoyment they would get when they are not using condoms. When these men go to sex workers and demand to play sex without using a condom, the sex workers will not resist as they are looking for money. At the end of it all, these men will have contracted HIV, which they will transmit to their families. The people should be trained on the importance of protected sex and howthey can use the contraceptives to protect themselves and the family members.

Question 5

Process

The research should be conducted to know how HIV in transmitted from one person to the other. In the research, it should be determined if the condoms and other contraceptives are used by the people (Coleman & Gaddist 2012, p. 87). This will help RNW to know the mode of transmission such that they can try to prevent it. Information and other details should be gathered from the hospitals and dispensaries.

Impact

People will be advised on how to prevent the transmission by using condoms and other contraceptives in any sexualintercourse. This will reduce the infection because the transmission will have been controlled.

Outcome

This will leaded to reduced economic resources, which could be used on medication and education campaigns. Thegovernment will use the saved resources on other activities for the development of the country. The living standards in thefamily will be affordable the birth rates will be controlled due to use of contraceptives. The people will have smallfamilies, which they can afford to take care of by providing basic needs.
