Impediments to Basing Government Health Policies, Article Critique Example

Pages: 1

Words: 316

Article Critique

The science of medicine has created a distinct impact on how the policies on healthcare are being carefully given attention to. It could not be denied that scientific studies affect the overall decision-making procedures that the government take into account especially in providing healthcare services to the public. To measure such correlative function between the government and the scientists in promoting good health alongside the empowerment of commerce.

As mentioned by Greenberg in his article, the public responds more fairly to announcements accompanied by experts’ advice. Unlike warnings coming from the administration alone, scientifically sound explanations often provide a distinct course of development especially in instantiating stronger policies that the public will easily recognize and respond to (531). Notably, with the support of scientific research and facts, the public knows that the government is not just using public alarm and warning to instantiate a sense of panic thus forcing them to buy medical products that would increase the profit of the medical companies (533).

To prove such notion on the response of the public to expert advice and how this could be manipulated by the administrators, Greenberg uses different researches that are dedicated towards understanding how the public responds to health warnings that are supposedly able to impact their decision making especially when it comes to dealing with creating policies that are supposed to raise the awareness of the public. It could be realized that the research of Greenberg does prove that manipulation of values does occur in the government, and somehow, it is the willingness of the scientists to collaborate with such manipulation that makes such aspect of operation more effective in entertaining the public’s positive response on the matter. Explosive as the article is, Greenberg was able to provide ample evidence that supports his claims accordingly.
