Introduction:

“The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions” (Meyers, 1980).

The basis of this MBTI is centered on the findings and clarity of psychologist Carl Jung, primarily from his book titled Psychological Types (1921). Initially, though, the MTBI came out of its namesake, of course, from originators Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. Objectively observing similar patterns of human behavior, or psychological research, each of these three names combined their findings to make sense of these varying traits in human psychology.

Why do some people pursue college degrees in an Arts field, but soon after completing college need a calculator to perform simple addition? Likewise, why do some astute scientists find trouble making simple preferences? What does a person mean by saying that he or she is “not that type of person”? Why do some people, say, spend years in college and attain a degree in Microbiology, only to find themselves working an interactive job in retail a year later? Moreover, why do most people have a difficult time understanding the motivations of others? These questions are all relative to why the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ever drew that interest in these three creators.

Here are the common themes, the 16 different personality types (Meyers):

These are the Four Preferences that people tend to favor one over the other:

Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I)

Sensing (S) or Intuition (N)

Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)

Judging (J) or Perceiving (P)

Extraverted Sensing (modern types: ESFP, ESTP)

Introverted Sensing (modern types: ISTJ, ISFJ)

Extraverted Intuition (modern types: ENFP, ENTP)

Introverted Intuition (modern types: INFJ, INTJ)

Extraverted Thinking (modern types: ESTJ, ENTJ)

Introverted Thinking (modern types: ISTP, INTP)

Extraverted Feeling (modern types: ESFJ, ENFJ)

Introverted Feeling (modern types: INFP, ISFP)

Morgan’s analysis:

(E) Introverted 19 Clear

(S) Sensing 19 Clear

(T) Thinking 20 Clear

(P) Perception 21 Very Clear

Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving (ISTP)

As an ISTP, her primary mode of living is focused internally. She deals with things after pondering thought about them. She judges according to her personal value system, but even more emphasis is placed on trying to intake all knowledge objectively. She tends to postpone decisions and see what other options are available, first, but mostly reacts spontaneously.

Her responses to the MBTI items indicate that her four-letter type code is:

ESFJ (Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Sensing)

Your Type Description: ESFJ (Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Sensing)

  • Directs her energy primarily inward toward her inner environment, thoughts, and experiences.
  • Takes in information primarily through the five senses and her immediate experience with others.
  • Makes decisions primarily based on logic and objectivity.
  • She prefer flexibility, spontaneity, and keeping their options open more than structure, plans, and achieving closure quickly.
  • She notices what others need in their day-by-day lives and tries to provide it.
  • She hopes to be appreciated for what she provides rather than any pretense of her image or mythological aura.
