International Award to Cargill Suppressed by NIB, Article Review Example

This summary of the article, “International Award to Cargill Suppressed by NIB”begins with the irony that just as a letter was being written by Gregory Moss, the CEO of NIB, justifying his dismissal of Cargill, a letter arrives from Geneva that Cargill was to receive global recognition for a superb plan—the Balanced Score Card– he had presented at NIB. The letter from the International Social Security Association (ISSA) informed Cargill that he was to receive special recognition at the ISSA’s Good Practice Award of the Americas banquet in Lima, Peru and invited him to also be the keynote speaker. The letter has, however, not been seen in the Bahamas.

The contents of the Moss letter were “leaked” in an apparent effort to destroy Mr. Cargill’s reputation who, much to the plotters’ surprise, decided to fight back. It, however, was of little benefit since at Mr. Moss’s directive, Mr. Cargill’s trip would not be funded and it was left for him to decline without explaining. The writer of this article states that the withholding of this award was scandalous, and this student agrees with that statement.

This student believes that Mr. Moss felt that he should go to Peru to accept the award and give the keynote address but when that did not happen, he made it impossible for Mr. Cargill to go. Consequently nobody represented NIB and the Bahamas thereby resulting in the forfeiture of the goodwill and benefits that could have been attained by them.
