Comparison and Contrast between Concentration Camps and Internment Camps

The utilization of both concentration camps and internment camps emerged to have been in the rise during the Second World War. It could be understood that it is with this approach that countries, nations and administrators tried to suppress individuals or group of people who would not follow through with their decisions and policies. Considerably, these establishments imposed a sense of control among those that are dedicated towards remaining loyal to what they believe, the life they have been used to, instead of accepting the changes brought about by the emergence of new administration.

While these areas are used for control and suppression, there is a huge difference when it comes to determining how they are utilized to demand control from the people or the society that sees how their emergence sound out fear and terror. For instance, internment camps [as the term itself suggests] are used to hold people inside camps where they are expected to remain within the bounds of the [enemy lines] and are not allowed to go beyond it. They are kept inside and are treated as prisoners. Death does occur among people held in these establishments, but the loss of lives is rather controlled in number.

On the other hand, concentration camps spell out ‘holding people’ within the camps in a different manner. For instance, the concentration camps [during the Nazi regime] held several thousands of individuals within suffocated camps where they are treated with demeaning condition. These individuals were treated like animals being brought to their slaughter. The death toll arises from thousands to millions of individuals as the history marks the utilization of these establishments. Relatively, the use of concentration camps as means of suppression also transformed into being used as establishments of elimination.
