Part 1: Quote Response and Analysis

The capacity of a person to read and comprehend with what he reads is specifically affected by how modern technology actually provides the society a chance to access written materials. Information in this age has then become a common place that human individuals use every day. Nevertheless, even though there is already an influx of information, there is still a sense of contradiction on how human individuals develop their expertise on reading and the manner by which they comprehend with what they are able to learn from what they read. In the argument formed between the thoughts of Net and Wolf, the competition of ideas specifically lay on the capacity of one to read fast versus the capacity of one to understand clearly.

Referring to these two particular thoughts, the article written by Nicholas Carr on Google and the manner by which it affects human communication and information utilization provides a great indicator on how the human brain has began to evolve given the changes that are happening in the society today. Believably, such an instance creates a definite source of belief showing how humans tend to follow through the changes, leaving what they may have found out to be effective and replacing it with what they might find to be more convenient. Reading fast through the internet and getting instant information is specifically one of the most prominent ways of reading used by the society today. Specifically differentiated from reading thoroughly, searching through the internet using keywords is presented by today’s culture to be more convenient yet may not necessarily imply effectiveness in comprehending with what the information conveys.

This particular facet of argument is much interesting especially in showing what is of much better worth, reading only what is desired or reading thoroughly through deep comprehension and analysis of the piece being written. Notably, understanding the worth of both aspects of reading would provide a better indication on how the modern society views information utilization.

“In deciding when to eat, to work, to sleep, to rise, we stopped listening to our senses and started obeying the clock.”

Considering the quote above, it could be analyzed how the clock, or the time has become one of the most demanding elements in the society today when it comes to completing chores and having matters done. Expressively, humans tend to have their own way of scheduling their day. However, because of the existence of particular rules that they must follow, they now intend to follow the time and its demands rather than what they actually want to do with their lives in line with the time that they were given. Exploring this topic would indeed give a valuable presentation on how humans ought to understand the value of time versus the value of doing what they actually like or what they actually value in their life.

PART 2:  Five specific Exhibits:

  1. Reading through an article fast enough to beat the time towards deadline of a particular required paper in school
  2. Finding a valuable information in a given reading assignment and having the push to read through the piece word by word.
  3. Running after the clock to meet with an authoritative figure for a scheduled interview
  4. Taking time to walk in the park to see the blue sky and just let time pass by for the sake of relaxation
  5. Putting every single responsibility behind and taking time to listen to a friend’s problems

PART 3: Presentation of Value

Reading through an article fast enough to beat the time towards deadline of a particular required paper in school

For this particular exhibit, I see that the idea of Net does help especially when time crunches are involved in a particular process of reading. Examining this particular experience would help me relate the idea of reading fast and how it sometimes benefit the reader when time constraints are involved.

Finding a valuable information in a given reading assignment and having the push to read through the piece word by word.

In opposition to Net’s description of reading, I see this experience to define more that of Wolf’s idealism regarding the value of reading deeply and comprehending with the piece thoroughly. Considering this experience shall provide me the chance to prove that there are instances when reading thoroughly does give specific benefits to the reader especially when it entails further learning procedures.

Running after the clock to meet with an authoritative figure for a scheduled interview

When the clock is ticking, everybody responds. Considering the power of the clock to define what I need to accomplish within a given time, this experience shall prove how important time has become in the lives of people like myself.

Taking time to walk in the park to see the blue sky and just let time pass by for the sake of relaxation

Leaving behind the clock and just enjoying life in bliss is also a blessing from time to time. Defying the control of the clock, exploring this experience shall give me a sense of understanding on how I personally tend to set aside a chance for me to unwind and just live life in a breeze.

Putting every single responsibility behind and taking time to listen to a friend’s problems

Showing how sometimes, there are more important things than time, I do prefer to explore this experience to establish the argument that even though the clock has the power of control over our lives, it is still the human value that comes before anything else and specifically wins over such control when certain situations arise along the way.
