Marketing to the Baby Boom Generation, Case Study Example

Pages: 2

Words: 605

Case Study

Taking note of the manner in which the baby boom generation is now going into retirement, it would be wise for marketing companies to look for manners through which they can create new products, goods, and/or services that will appeal to the older generation. Despite the fact that there are a variety of methods that can be used in order to accomplish this, there are specific factors that would be able to contribute to the buying of certain goods, products, and/or services from baby boomers. However, in order to ensure that these baby boomers become clients of a certain company, the business must make advertise its products in a mythology in which it does not make the baby boom generation feel old.If a business is able to appeal to the baby boomers in a particular manner, then it is without a doubt that the business will have a high probability of being successful.

At the moment, probably the best products for companies to advertise to the baby boom generation would be cosmetic products. This kind of market is sky-rocketing at the moment because of the manner in which individuals who are aging are becoming more and more interested in the way they look. While it is obvious that these individuals are becoming older by the second, it is imperative for a companys marketing system to avoid making these individuals feel old. This would only cause an awkwardness between certain individuals and companies, causing a reduction in both productivity and profitability for the company.

In regards to the second case question, there is, indeed, a specialized segment of baby boomers who should be considered more conservative and would certainly not be interested in buying products that would speak to a younger living lifestyle. In order to sell goods, products, and/or service to these potential clients, a company must ensure that it does not incriminate itself by making certain types of advertisements about religion and/or politics. If a company ignores this recommendation, then it is well on its way to failure because of the manner in which conservative baby boomers will not be able to familiarize with the business.

For baby boomers who would like to become entrepreneurs, these individuals would most probably start-up businesses that would be close-knit communities that would be centered on the idea of helping their fellow baby boomers. On that note, these baby boomers would most probably center their businesses around the idea of instruction to the younger generations. This is due to the manner in which these individuals would be eager to use the knowledge that they have acquired throughout their years and use it for a greater good. In accordance with this, it is also plausible to say that the baby boomer entrepreneurial generation would be interested in providing services such as mentoring. What is meant by this is that these individuals would want to help other individuals (whether they be other baby boomers or another age group of individuals).

If a business is able to appeal to the baby boomers in a particular manner, then it is without a doubt that the business will have a high probability of being successful. Baby boomers were once the future of the United States of America and they have not disappointed. It is without a doubt that even if the individuals may soon go into retirement or reach older ages, these people will still be the innovators of tomorrow forever, since they have paved the road for everyone else that will go before them.
