Introduction

The purpose of this survey is mainly to measure the employee’s attitude towards restriction on the usage of social network in the office. The trends and the perception regarding the use of social media technologies in the workplace are perceived differently by various organizations. Some organizations have gone as far as restricting the usage f social networking in the office for various reasons. Restriction from using social networking in the workplace is s perceived differently by employees. Some are for the idea and some are not this implies that some employees are satisfied with the restrictions while others are not.

This survey Questionnaires is intended to help the researcher collect information that will enable him/her to make conclusions about the attitude employees have towards the restriction of using social networking in the office. Furthermore, it will help the researcher know the level of restriction that is acceptable by employees at workplace in general through the collection of their views. This survey will allow me to ask the same questions to a number of employees to determining what they think of restriction of social networking at work place and ask them what level of restriction they will accept.

Background of the Study

With the advent of prolific use of social media sites among employees, their influences cannot be over-looked. There has been an escalating interest in web based technologies and social media tools. Social networking at work place has influenced employees both negatively and positively therefore; human resources have developed policies that govern the usage of social networking tools at workplace.

The policies sometimes bun the usage of social networking completely at work place while others while other condone only a small degree of usage at workplace depending on the nature of the work the employee is doing. According to O’Reilly (2005), social media is a platform across all connected gadgets and devices. Technologies such as YouTube allow internet users to share video content, providing an Application Programming Interface that allows viewing of the same video from other sites. These tools have become part of the employee’s lives and they help in the building of relations with other like-minded students rendering it hard to overlook.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To measure which level of restriction of social network in the office that employees can accept
  2. Finding out the prevalence of social networking in the office

Programming

This survey will target five employees’ working in government offices and five employees working in private sector offices. Of the ten selected participants, at least five should be women and five men. The questionnaire will be intended to measure the need of social networking in the office and the effect of burning its usage .it will answerer the question will burning social networking improve or lower productivity of employees.

The selected group will be reached using email generation from the company database. In addition, the survey will take the mode of email because it will be easier to contact the respondents so that they fill the questionnaire online. This will help data collection since the responses will be generated in a database that can be analyzed using statistical software package SPSS.

The findings will be used to measure the level of social networking restriction that the employees will accept at workplace. In addition, the findings will help the human resources to formulate best polices that will govern the usage of social networking by employees at work place.

The attitude towards social networking by employees will determine the success of this project. The behaviors office works will portray after the restriction of using social networks in the office will tell the effectiveness of the project and vise versa.

The variables to be measured lie within attitudes, behaviors, preferences, and beliefs the employees have concerning social networking and its relationship with the work they do.
