The Legacy of Michael Jackson

The pop music industry is one of the most prolific industries in any form of entertainment across the entire globe.  Artists like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys attempt to shock and amaze the audience with their explosive live performances, new exciting singles, and beautiful looks.  However, none of today’s artists even comes close to the impact that Michael Jackson had on the pop music industry over his 50-year lifetime.  He has been nicknamed the “King of Pop” and no artist today will ever be able to accomplish the many feats that he did during his illustrious career.

According to a recent article, Alicia Keys validated Michael Jackson’s when she said, “But long from now, when we are all dust, he will still never be forgotten … To the best that ever did it! You are loved, admired and respected forever” (Robertson par. 12).  Without a doubt Michael Jackson was one of the best, if not the very best artist to ever perform for the world.  He clearly earned his nickname as “King of Pop” over his four decades as an entertainer.  Jackson earned 13 number one solo hits, 13 Grammy Awards and he was even labeled as the number one best selling male artist of the millennium at the 2000 World Music Awards .

Michael Jackson was well recognized for his artistic talents performing in front of a live audience as well as his world-renowned music videos that showcased his dancing talents.  Still, unlike many of today’s artists, Jackson focused on being a humanitarian first by giving back to hundreds of charities that focused on world hunger, peace, children’s affairs, and so much more.  Although he was a highly ridiculed public figure at times, he still remains the “King of Pop” to everyone that ever heard him sing or watched him perform.  Nothing can take away from his legacy, and he will always be honored for his efforts to improve the lives of everyone around him through his music and his charitable acts of kindness.
