My decision behind seeking admission in Rutgers University is attributed to the fact that the institution is a challenging college for my academic achievement and my determination to get definite needs which I suppose are realizable in the precincts of the institution curriculum. I am aware that, Rutgers University is an effervescent community of people with a variety of backgrounds in addition to experiences. I therefore suppose that this cultural diversity is a source of appreciable skills which I believe I will benefit from and I will contribute in diversification of skills in the Rutgers University environment. I am ready to make use of the cultural experience and volunteer services about meeting people’s eye and volunteering job at Korean school attributing positive effect on me in outcome which I believe will be of mutual benefit to me and the Rutgers University as a whole.
I was raised in South Korea which offered me a very high disciplined environment. As a result, I am a person of exceptionally high discipline to an extent that meeting people’s gaze is not a common occurrence in me especially when I am talking to adults in order to respect them. I have learnt from my parents that meeting other peoples’ eyes is a rude thing and this is a natural thing in Korea where I grew up. I have worked as an assistant teacher in North Alabama Korean School where I taught children of age 5 to 15 how to speak, write, and read Korean and its culture. This chance gave me a different view of looking at people’s eyes directly which in this situation, I learnt that it helps to communicate much better than not meeting the eyes of the people directly. Accordingly, I can choose when to meet people’s gaze and when not to depending on the situation. Another factor that has influenced me is cultural experiences that made me to acquire an aptitude to benefit from the vibrant community and programs
In view of these facts therefore, I feel that my potentials and capabilities will be significantly enhanced after I undergo additional training in Rutgers University.
