My Education Philosophy, Personal Statement Example

My education philosophy has been inspired by deep conviction an educator is not merely a teacher but plays several roles when dealing with his/her students. The most important role is, of course, that of a teacher but being a teacher is not merely helping students cover course curriculum but also to help them acquire important soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, and teamwork. A teacher should, above all, help develop productive members of the society.

I also see educators as leaders. In this role, an educator should inspire students to become the best they are. An educator with effective leadership skills helps students see the value in education. Similarly, an educator is also a manager. In this role, an educator should get to know his/her students on an individual basis. In other words, an educator should understand the individual strengths and weaknesses of his/her students.

One role an educator should play is that of a friend. Students, above all, are individuals with unique backgrounds and experiences which play an important role in shaping their individual personalities. Playing the role of friend is, especially, important when dealing with students who may be struggling or rebelling. Many students with problematic behavior often don’t know where to turn for help which only worsens the situation.

An educator is one of the most important stakeholders in an academic institution. The ability of an organization to achieve its objectives is often dependent upon the quality of working relationship among different stakeholders. Thus, my education philosophy also includes developing strong working relationship with different stakeholders including school administration, parents, and local communities. Our children deserve nothing but the best education and it is important for different stakeholders to work together to make that possible.
