Nursing, Application Essay Example

My passion to become a nurse originates directly from my desire to help people. I love working with hospitalized patients since I enjoy staying around people especially patients during their time of need to give them care and comfort before they pass. When I find the privilege to serve ailing people to my level best I find real satisfaction internally.

I realized my passion for nursing when working as a CAN at seashore point nursing home in Provincetown, MA and VNA of Cape Cod for five years. While working at those facilities, I discovered that many ailing people get cured not just because of the medicine they take but also the care they receive as patients in hospitals and at home.

Having done CAN for 5 years CAN duties have helped me to understand the importance of providing the patient with the right environment and atmosphere that is most conducive for this stimulate quick recovery. From my experience as a CAN  I understand that nursing entails much more than just providing care to patients and helping the doctors. To me Nursing means helping the patients understand the fine details of their illness and sufferings so that they can strike balance which is in harmony with the mind. Experience also teaches me that it is the moral ideal for the nurses to provide good care so as to preserve the value of human life. Because of my relentless desire of helping I have I want to further my nursing after I receive my RN to a nurse practitioner.

While working as a CAN,  I did all that pertains to nursing for instance, given baths changed bed pans, assisted in dairy physical therapy exercises, cleaned up patients  just to mention a few, I have done all to get my job done. After all these duties I believe I have paid my dues and I deserve to join nursing school so as to fulfill my dream of helping and serving people.
