Windows is standard on most personal computers. Most popular name brand software applications that are used on computers are also based on the schematics of Windows operating systems. The appeal to Linux is mostly those that know the differences, and are experienced with computers. Linux is not for everyone, it allows users to continually build on the platform that lowers the costs for users. Linux offers no cost, that is affordable for smaller firms, and users that cannot afford all the applications that go with Window systems. I do not think their share will increase, Microsoft has a definite hold on personal computers, but for that small fraction that use the services it will increase slightly as more firms and developers use the services to create better products.

Cloud computing has become increasingly popular. It allows users to backup an unlimited amount of files without having to get another hard drive. It allows smaller companies to compete on a level playing field that offers scalability, cheaper costs, and better applications. However, the drawbacks are issues with security that create a challenge for user’s privacy, data protection, identity theft, and hackers. Cloud computing information found on http://www.infoworld.com/d/cloud-computing/what-cloud-computing-really-means-031 provides an overview of cloud computing, and how it is changing the way companies utilize the resources of the internet, including platforms, providers, web services, and internet integration. The Performance Center is a useful information system that allows us to gain a large amount of data to run the business more efficiently. It gives critical information on sales, payroll, and profit. However, it requires serious time to look over data which can be improbable in a high traffic business. The contingency plan is not needed, as the system can work regardless if on or not, but other systems such as computer, registers, etc., are moved or covered up, before getting everyone out safely.
