Program Offered by Chapman University, Personal Statement Example

I am interested in transferring to the film production program offered by Chapman University, as it matches my existing skills and interest.

Participating in the program would help me improve my skills and abilities that are needed for becoming a professional film maker. I have been producing short films, and have basic editing and cutting skills, however, I would like to learn the theories and practice from professionals at the Chapman University. I am in particularly interested in the artistic features and representations and studying all aspects of film-making, including shooting, writing, and production. Since I was a young child, I have been interested in movies, motion techniques, plots, and characters. In high school, I covered some of the annual events with a camera in hand, and edited the video material myself, used special effects, and cut the footage. After four years of community college, however, I realized that my real interest and passion still pulled me towards creative film-making. I attended art, computer science, and design classes during college, but kept on thinking about the application of the skills learned in the film industry. Unable to ignore my personal preferences and passion for motion picture, I decided to research courses, and found that Chapman University’s training is the most comprehensive and highest quality training I can apply for. Being taught by people who have experience and authority in the industry would provide me with motivation to push myself further.

I believe that in order to obtain a career in the film industry, I need professional qualification from a reputable university. While I already have some experience in film production, I look forward to the hands on work I will engage in, following the guidance of experts as a student. It will allow me to further develop and refine my existing skills. Furthermore, I am interested in student collaborative projects creating short productions together, as learning from each other during completing the process would further help me grow as a film-maker. I believe that interacting with peers and like-minded individuals will help foster my creativity and improve my knowledge of the field. I have a strong sense of purpose, and I am motivated to learn everything about making films, analyzing themes, and creating meaningful messages for various audiences.

Upon graduation, I plan to use the knowledge obtained to create independent projects, and secure internships that will allow me to find a career in film production. The training offered by Chapman University is the perfect starting point for me, and the course will help me accomplish my professional goals, due to the variety of coursework and campus experiences offered.

Should I get accepted for this program, I am planning to become actively involved in extra courses and projects, in order to make the most out of my film training experience possible. I would also like to research new technologies, artistic approaches, and computer animations. I believe that my drive to succeed will enhance my ability to learn and motivate others, as well.

I am excited about the opportunity offered by the film production program, because I believe that the goals of the course are closely aligned with my own professional objectives.
