Energy is a need which man cannot avoid with the increased industrial and domestic needs in the current world. Man does not need any kind of energy for industrial and domestic use but needs energy that is sustainable, environmentally friendly and readily available. There are two main sources of energy which are divided into two broad categories; Renewable and non renewable. Non renewable sources of energy include fossil fuels such as coal, crude oil and natural gas whereas renewable sources include solar energy, wind energy and biomass etc. Fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide every day which is released to the earth’s atmosphere. This increased content of carbon dioxide gas is environmentally destructive because it increases the planets warmth and is the major cause of global warming effect. Global warming is the major concern across the universe and can be reduced significantly by replacing and retrofitting current technologies with alternatives that have similar or better performances but do not release carbon dioxide. One of such alternative source of energy which is clean, less expensive, long lasting and environmentally friendly is solar energy.
Importance of solar energy over fossil fuels such as coal and crude oil
Fossil fuels are non-renewable sources of energy and will cause our daily activities to come to a stand still if they get depleted at some point. The remedy for such fuels is alterative sources of energy such as solar. Solar energy is renewable and free so harnessing it will ensure continued supply of power throughout. Solar power is natural and renewable. Solar energy will never get depleted and can be used repeatedly
Using of solar energy will help save non-renewable crude oil and natural gas energy for emergency use in future. Crude oil prices are very high and it becomes very difficult for the underdeveloped countries to afford such energy sources. Developing countries will benefit significantly from solar energy which is less expensive and environmentally less harmful. More so, solar power is readily available it only needs to be harnessed so that it can be used for cooking, heating, lighting etc.
Benefits of solar energy
It is a clean source of energy and does not pollute the environment in any way.
It will not get depleted or will never run out as compared to other resources like crude oil, natural gas which will some day run out
This project will be divided into phases for easy handling. The phases include;
Planning phase: This phase will focus mainly on planning how the project will be conducted. It wills focus on the requirements for the project, financial sources, information sources, design and identification of the involved parties. It will take approximately two months.
Team organization phase: This phase will deal with organizing the team members and assigning each member a specific part of the project. In doing this, different personalities will be incorporates so that quality is achieved. This phase will take approximately one month.
Prototype phase: this is the core phase of the project. It entails the construction or presentation of the prototype of the project to be implemented. More time and research is needed in this phase foe the project success depends entirely in this phase. Team members will consult one another r severally so that the project succeeds. This phase will take at least five months.
Implementation phase: After the prototype has been constructed and proved to be successful. Implementation stage will follow. Here, implementation process will be followed carefully this phase will take about three months.
Feed back stage: after implementation, the project will be given some time while under operation so that the feedback can be generated. The feed back stage can last for as long as one year.
