Explain your motivation to seek a career in medicine. Be sure to include the value of your experiences that prepare you to be a physician.
Saying that medicine has paved the way for human innovation for years is wrong. The truth is that it is the individuals who have unlocked medicine’s true potential who have opened the gates for human technological inventions and innovations. These individuals, to say the least, have led exemplary lives due to their research. I intend to be among those individuals. I have aspirations of being among one of the many self-acclaimed individuals who has revolutionized the world with his or her findings. Being given such a vast opportunity to have all of the medical barriers opened up to me, it is without a doubt that I will be able to change the world for the better. I do not hold great passion of accomplishing such great tasks for the fame or thrill of it. I am aware that individuals who have broken among the greatest medical barriers (such as Christiaan Bernard, who performed the first successful heart transplant) have hardly ever been awarded the recognition that they deserve. Sure, they may have been awarded a nobel prize or something along the lines of that, but seldom have they been world recognized. So no, my intentions for revolutionizing the world do not include the fame nor the money. On the contrary, I hold such great ambitions, aspirations, and objectives, so I may be able to be of service to others. It is my desire that all have the opportunity to feel the power of a servant’s heart. I have come to realize that as if I want to see a certain change in today’s society, then I must be the individual that sparks such a change. I now acknowledge that the world is a cruel place, and that there are few who really want to change the world with reasons for benefitting the world rather than themselves. Due to this, I have found a passion within myself for helping others.
Being the child of a dentist hygienic and a nurse, being a physician in my household is not only encouraged, but expected. Not only that, but I find myself directly linked to the study of natural science. There is nothing in this world that I would rather study. One of the activities I enjoy doing the most is spending time reading books on topics such as neurobiology. I cannot imagine myself spending my free time any other way than learning more about medicine each and every day.
Upon admission into [insert medical school program], I would focus all of my energies on research. Only through research have the greatest medical doctors been able to instigate changes within society. I am looking forward to facing intellectually challenging studies in order to grasp a better understanding of the manner in which medicine functions. It has been injected into my brain to hold a significant ardor for improving other people’s lives. Through such extensive research, I am sure that my colleagues and I would be able to remove even more stone barriers in the field of medicine.
Upon completion of my studies [insert medical school], I would pursue a specialty in pediatric oncology and zero in on reducing the number cancer patients. In addition to that, I have dreams of someday opening up free clinics throughout the nation for underprivileged individuals who do not have the sufficient funds to treat their medical complications. I once heard a man say that change is inevitable, but growth is optional. What he said has lingered in my mind for years; change will invariably continue, however, it is up to us to ensure that certain change is a positive one.
I intend to make a significant impact on the world through my collaboration with others and my willingness to be of service to everyone.
