Psychology, Personal Statement Example

I developed an interest in performance arts early in life and actively pursued ballet dance for years during which time I also gave numerous live performances. The experience helped me improve my self-confidence and focus which has been valuable in my academic career as well. It also increased my interest in psychology because one cannot overstate the importance of tough mentality in accomplishing challenging tasks. Similarly, I enjoy meeting people and my social experiences have been rewarding because I can put myself in others’ shoes.

I started my college career at City University of Hong Kong as an associate degree candidate in Network and Systems Administration and while I did well in it, it was not a good fit to my interests and strengths. Thus, I transferred to Hong Kong Baptist University as a Psychology Major where I have also been actively involved in co-curricular activities such as Psychology Club and Learning Activities Workshop. College education is one of the most important investments in one’s future and I am continuously seeking more rewarding academic experiences. University of Hong Kong’s Psychology program is world renowned and there are also ample networking opportunities available to students. Thus, I desire to study at University of Hong Kong because it will challenge me to become the best I am capable of.

My academic and co-curricular record demonstrates my commitment to excellence and I have no doubt I will succeed in University of Hong Kong’s rigorous Psychology Program. I will bring unique insights into the classrooms which should benefit my fellow students. I look forward to starting a new exciting phase in my academic career at University of Hong Kong and have no doubt it will be one of the best decisions of my life.
