The story of “the Sleeping Beauty” presented through a ballet act is one of a kind experience that audiences would surely be thrilled to see. Nevertheless, it could be noted that when it comes to interpreting stories through dance, there is much more technicalities involved in the process. With everything being looked upon and the details of a worded piece translated into particular movements, the ballet act on The Sleeping Beauty’s story line creates a more vivid and connective process by which actions convey more meaning that words could ever do. In the dance interpretation of the said story by Roberto Bolle and Diana Vishneva, it could be seen how ballet and its sophisticated art has made it possible for new meanings to come out of the presentation compared to what the original story has been portrayed in books.

The lighting transitions in the dance-play of the sleeping beauty helped well I setting the mood of the presentation; as if creating a mandate of creation on how the emotions escalate as the scenarios of the plot of the story changes. The grand set up of the stage also sets the attention of the audience towards the different transformation of character-highlights that make the whole theater act a conventional presentation of art.

The dancers, of course, being the center of the whole act concentrated on how they are to bring the story to life through their movements, partnered with unparalleled facial expressions that make it easier for them to transcend the story to their audience. The division of the dance presentations was practically separated in six to seven parts determining the transition between the acts that highlight the major sections of the original piece on the story of the sleeping beauty. In this case, the center floor presentations played a great role in keeping the audience’s interest and attention to the central depiction of the plot.

For me, the most important part of the dance sets were the dance walks and runs that basically created a smooth transition for the presentation from one particular plot towards another. This action has made it easier for the audience to understand what was happening in the story, allowing them to follow through the process of dramatic insistence on how the characters played their role in relation to the story they are relating to their viewers. Key characters have basically created a more distinct sense of determining the assumption of good direction; one that would impose a good option on how the audience would be able to relate to the emotions suggested in each plot rather than just going through what they already know about the story of sleeping beauty.

Perhaps the most interesting and rather compelling part of the act was the adagios and the allegros in the dance. The partnered dances specifically made the presentation more romantic rather than tragic; the choreography of the adagios and the allegros made it daintier and a well-defined transition of how female dancers were presented to have a distinct role in the story and the act itself. Practically, the twists and turns of the story have been rather presented at a more defined stroke with the careful and intentional determination of how artistic and technical dance techniques were inserted into the program.

Compelling as the story is, it could be understood that the dance presentation created a different sense of value to what it was about and how it was supposed to be in creating a more defined story-plot defined through technical body movements. The ballet presentation made the whole story stand out in a more sophisticated manner that spoke well to the audience in relation to the meaning of the story’s value as related to love, revenge and family.
