Introduction and Theory

Friction is a regular part of anybody’s regular life. It could be understood that with friction, the different functions of human operations are better handled fully. There are however two particular kinds of friction that affects human regular functions. One is the kinetic friction which is noted as a force that is proportional to the normal force. Another is static friction which is a force that can vary in volume. The measurement of the force between either kinetic or static friction is based upon the force that is applied in order for the point of friction to be identified and categorized accordingly.

Static friction is the exchanging force that exists between two or more objects that are solid in state. This is why this kind of friction is often used to prevent an object from changing its direction of falling. This kind of friction helps the in the avoidance of things from moving or falling accordingly. In order for static friction to be overcome, force must be applied for the elements to move from its original space towards another. Kinetic friction, on the other hand, is one that enables elements to move from one place towards another and create a force that basically implies a sense of distinction n how one factor affects another and the force that exists between them.

Experimental Procedures

To measure the static friction, the establishment of a solid platform where a horizontal mass is measured against a vertical mass that is placed to be in support between each other. The track is placed upon the platform in order to measure the point of movement based on the experiment. This balance between elements entails to give a definite indication on how stable force is in a static friction setup. In this case, the focus of the experiment is to reach the maximum value of Ffr.

To measure the kinetic friction and set the difference between its movement and the movement of elements between static friction, checking the AL track is to be used as the angle indicator of the whole setup. To set the difference, the maximum value of m2 versus m1 shall be plotted in an excel format in order to create a more definite sense of indication on how a free diagram is better able to make a mark on the setup as static friction is actually transformed into kinetic friction.

Results

This experiment actually provides a more definite insistence on how static friction is developed into a kinetic state of motion that is enforced with proper point of determination on how elements are affected by the force implied on each of the variables used; basically making a difference on how force  and motion’s role is identified in each setup.

The slope that was yielded through the observation points out how motion increases as static friction is transformed into kinetic friction (especially as force is imposed into the setup[s] dedicated for the experiment’s pursuance).

Analysis and Discussions

From this point of the presentation, it could be understood that static and kinetic friction are among the most common forms of friction that is applied in most operations that humans engage in. It could be realized that through the application of force, the function of friction that is used in one particular operation could take a more definite indication of change and function for a different purpose as proper force is applied. The experimentation further proves this claim especially in determining the real transforming function of friction as part of everyday work engagements of different individuals.
