There has been a change in the conditions of doing the Social theories in this century compared to the nineteenth century. The reason put across; today’s social theory is being made in a most intimate affair with the people’s lives who in real sense are not professionals in that field. Experts did the nineteenth-century social theory, the today’s social theory even those experts follow closely to what others refer to as everyday life social theory. This paper review’s Karl Marx idea about this change about the opinions raised by the authors, the answers to the discussions and the questions presented, the supporting evidence to support answers given, and finally, my stand on the authors position regarding the place of social theory in the society today, as compared to the nineteenth-century social ideas.
The authors of the Social Theory, the multicultural, Global, and Classical readings put forth the following issues regarding the state of the social theory in the society. There is a shift in the thinking between doing social theories in today’s society compared to the earlier order in the nineteenth century. The realization of the social idea taking global reality encompasses the entirety of human living as a whole, as its basic field of reflection. Another argument has been brought about by Derrida about the saying, the reading, and the getting it better and better. Social theory is what a person does in an instant they find themselves able to put words coherently that nobody seems to talk about. It encompasses remembering, repeating, and working it through as reading on the writers who have been officially excluded sheds light on the modern life’s struggles that people have to come up with day in day out. eAt their core, social theories make one understand life by bringing the stories out of memory.
The answers and supporting proofs raised for the mentioned arguments are that the author continues to display new social theories, a case of Du Bois’s copy of The Souls of Black Folks and Dusk of Dawn. This means an old version and a new one, as a new one wouldn’t emerge in the absence of an old version theory. These changes have arisen due to social disruptions in society. This is evident as Karl Marx’s capital theory was written when the economic confusion drowned the state. As seen, he, together with Engels, had also written their Manifesto during revolutions of 1948, paged in pg. 31. The early thinkers and writers made it accessible to today’s readers their records penned down during the changing social world. This has been due to the sudden emergence of 2001 theories on globalization and the disturbance the emerging theories cause to the already set and believed in ideas. Bruno Latour points clearly to the erasure of the classical distinction between the social world and the natural world (pg. 38). The concept of using language to support Derrida’s arguments is disturbing the world’s social order. The idea is summarized that if our way of thinking got changed, so should be our way of writing and reading (pg. 38). Freud captures the stories out of memory in his narration that the more one can tell a good listener, the more they remember and acting less out of need rather of understanding (pg. 49).
As a conclusion to the article, I agree with the author’s arguments regarding changing social theories from what was being experienced in the nineteenth century, as it takes a different course due to globalization, the writers usually pen down their thinking in the heat of society’s turmoil, and that has seen the change in the thinking and level headed approach towards life’s situations.
