Case Study

The fact that a competitor is willing to double the pay for the employee signifies that the employee is of immense value. This assertion is also evident in the current work of Johnson. The projected gains from the project are desirable and; therefore, this adds to the value of the employee (Alan 56). The current work is necessary to the company as the company as not posted profits and this project are essential in the attainment of profits.

The lack of a replacement for Johnson is another factor to put into consideration. In a circumstance, the company lets Johnson move to Worksmart.com there is no one capable of taking her place, and this means that the project will have to stop. Although she cannot take the microchip she is developing in the event, she moves to Worksmart.com she can develop another chip there in relatively a short time. The productivity of the employee is also evident within the company and implies absolute value attached to the services of the employee (Hisrich 26).

Putting all these factors into consideration, it would be ineffective for the company to lose the expertise of Johnson as she plays a crucial factor in the operations of the company and the company results are largely dependent on her. The willingness of the other company to pay double for the services of the employee shows the worth of the employee and the company does not lose anything in investing on a productive employee (Rajendra, and Theodore 102). The desirable option based on productivity would be to level the pay with what the competitor is offering and retain the employee.
