- The Zulu are a tribal African group that lives mainly in South Africa. The Zulu tribe gained recognition during the early nineteenth century when a young prince named Shaka came to power. Before Shaka, the Zulu had been primarily a farming and horticulture society. They raised cattle and grew vegetables. Men play the most dominant role in Zulu society. Women are renowned for bead working, basket making, and pottery. The Zulu Tribe is one of the best known African Tribes due to its extraordinary leader, Shaka Zulu; under Shaka’s leadership the trip grew into a great kingdom that was feared and respected across the African Continent. The culture of the Zulu Tribe is very unique and enticing.
