Why I Deserve Scholarship, Application Essay Example

As a single mother, life has not always been easy but I have been fortunate to have several people in my life who have selflessly helped me along the way. I eventually experienced myself the joy one gets by making positive difference in others’ lives as a nursing assistant. The personal and professional experiences have inspired me to pursue a lifelong career in the nursing profession and an undergraduate degree in nursing will be the first but a major step towards achieving my goal. I understand nursing profession demands lot of personal sacrifices and the responsibilities will only grow due to changing population trends but I see this as my good fortune to be getting the opportunity to make this world a better place for others.

I deserve this scholarship because one of my primary objectives in pursuing nursing education is to give back to the society that has been so supportive of me. This scholarship will not only be an investment in my future but also in the society. While determination and hard work are important, they are not always sufficient and the biggest obstacle in my path is insufficient financial resources. I am determined to optimize my learning experiences in the nursing program so that my future patients get the care they deserve. The scholarship reward will always remind me the society invested in me so that I can bring comfort to its citizens. This aware will also help me set personal example for my son that it is never too late to bring about a positive change in your life and when one tries to help himself, the society also lends a helping hand.

This scholarship will also inspire others like me to pursue nursing who have the determination but not the resources to follow their dreams. I have no doubt this scholarship award will continue to yield dividends for the society long after I have completed my education. It will also boost my morale and inspire me to seek other scholarship opportunities to fund my academic ambitions.
