The materials used in building particular structures is usually questioned based on how these elements would provide a stronger distinction of life-range that the structures are to be noted for. Accordingly, the materials used are often examined for durability and efficiency in making structures more sustainable. According to the interview with Dr. Apul, the conceptualization of durability is often based upon the function that the structures are supposed to serve. This means that the materials to be used in the construction would best define the overall value of the building based on the purpose it is made for.
When it comes to sustainability of resources, wood resources are seen to have more natural bases. Likely, it could be understood that with such availability, wood has become one of the most popular materials for constructing basic structures like houses and one to two-floor buildings that are to hold residence or place for shelter for a minimum number of individuals to stay within the area. However, when it comes to maintenance, wooden structures are often questioned feasibility of longer life span. Nevertheless, I could be understood that there are some wooden structures that last for ages depending on how the residents actually take care of the said buildings.
For block-based foundations, the said buildings are expected to last for ages and serve their purpose for a longer time. The good thing is, block-structures have the fair capacity of being placed on one specific floor over another. This will make it easier for structures to be established according to planned functionality; thus making great use of the available space. For highly urbanized areas, block-based structures are often understood to have the most feasible sense of existence. Given the population supported by these structures, block-based structures are able to house a much higher number of residents, therefore responding to their purpose to the best of their capacity of remaining for years. Passed on from one generation to another, block-based buildings are able to withstand disasters at a much better pace than wooden buildings.
Practically, less-urbanized areas are able to remain specifically dependent on fairly constructed wooden structures. However, when development options arise, it could be noticed that these structures are being replaced by blocked buildings; due to the requirement for these buildings to perform according to expectations and remain strongly dependent on proper urbanization planning that usually include policies for constructions codes that are able to limit the overall utilization of blocks and solid construction for building structures.
Nevertheless, this does not mean that when block-based structures are considered more stable and stronger in nature that wooden materials are to be set aside. Instead, new and innovative designs of building structures are based on the distinctive sense of using wooden and block resources in a much efficient manner that would provide a more solid sense of structural io over such value of buildings. What makes these constructions more innovative is the practical design by which wooden resources are to be given worth in relation to how they are used in partnership with solid blocks thus creating a sense of balance between the structural integrity brought about by both materials.
Modern eco-architecture actually celebrates the beneficial result coming from the utilization of both wooden and solid materials such as blocks in creating newly defined buildings to function for the new society of human communities at present. True to its sense, it could be understood that with the balance of material-integrity used in buildings, structures created at present are sure to respond to the overall competence of such structures.
