Admission Essay

Intelligence refers to my own ability to acquire knowledge and make appropriate application of it. For instance, my lower levels of schooling have enabled me to acquire skills on how to respond to various challenges I have encountered in life. Life is full of challenges, which gestures our immediate response. I get this through gaining more knowledge and using by capabilities to apply the acquired knowledge to further my understanding and response to the looming challenges. Furthermore, I can acquire skills and knowledge even without schooling. Such skills could be coming from apprenticeship and other comparative activities. My ability to apply such skills and knowledge in real life situations defines the magnitude of my intelligence. The many things in the world today are a generation of extensive thought and application of theoretical data in the field. It is through intelligence that everything almost came into being. This shows that people have been intelligent enough to apply their theoretical thoughts and ideas to real life situations. Another succinct example is the fact that a computer is a simple application of the Boolean arithmetic and logic. The inventor of the zeros and ones used in computer programming showed that he had enough intelligence from what he had thought and learnt in class.

On the other hand, wisdom refers to a collection of accumulated knowledge, skills, and expertise, which enables a person to discern and make equitable judgment between what, is good and what is bad, what is true and what is false, and what is right and what is wrong. Wisdom implies the comparative common sense or insight within an individual. People are thought on how to make use of their five common senses. It is with the common sense that an individual is able to replicate on what is taking place in an environment. For instance, when a glass drops and produces a thrilling sound, one will surely tell that a glass has just dispersed into pieces. This comes from the innate experience in the nature and density of the sound produced by a breaking glass. Another example is the fact that learning to appreciate every good done by an individual means that failing to appreciate it is not right. Learning to show respect, to be just, not to kill, and many other virtues of life, will always strain one from doing the wrong because of the innate knowledge and wisdom that it is wrong to do so.

I have an exemplary passion for success in my career and social life. The passion is so intense that it has often separated me from being close or being in the assembly of my peers. First, the passion will always drive me to fasten my focus, time, and effort to fruit it. This will automatically block my access to friends with different opinions. Secondly, the focus will automatically alter my way of thinking since I will always keep thinking on how to further my career and social life. Even if we engage in discussions and contributions, the focus will still eliminate me to be of particular difference from the other peers. Another example is the fact that when I will get the chance to enroll and pursue my career at the University of Notre Dame, the time I will dedicate to my peers will be limited to holidays and weekends when I am free. Many discussions and involvements will round up to meeting the requirements and demands of my career and social life. Not all peers of mine are of this mindset and focus. This means that I am taking a different pathway of life other than what they have taken.

I have a dream, which has often taken me to greater heights of thoughts and imaginations. I long to engage in a process or pathway of pursuing what I have loved and desired to explore in life. My objectives, mission, and vision have always beckoned my desire to put effort and dedication to a life full of accomplishments and solved challenges. I desire to be competitive, self-effective, and sufficient to the challenges of life. All these qualities making up my passion are replicated at the University of Notre Dame. This University with the right vision, mission, and co-values will give me an awesome and challenging environment to yield to my career. I appreciate the chance to be enrolled and begin exploring my career in this University. The academic standards, social status, and the natural environment at this University are impeccable and readily welcoming to my dreams.

Furthermore, people are different in what they do and respond to the course and effect in the environment. The finality of my career and search for a good social life dwells on how well I spend my time learning the skills and expertise required of them. This applies to my immediate and far-off friends. As much as I foresee a strained connection between my friends and me, I am still going to be with them. Peers make a life simple and real. However, what entails the academic career is a bit different from what my peers could be contemplating to do. In such a case, it is worthwhile to embrace the first things right and later engulf on the remaining aspects of life to make it a full-fletched living. This is the notion between my peers and me as I aspire to strike a long time deal with my studies in the University. I am certain to meet new friends as far as I will also meet new challenges. The channels of life could be the same. The destinies could be similar or even one. However, the channels and methodologies of arriving at our destinations in life vary. This is what differentiates me from my peers. It is not a life-separation. However, it is a short time separation yields long-time difference between my peers and me.

Duke University is sensible in its methodologies. I consider this University because of its ability and long history of innovativeness and technological approaches it has embraced over time. First, the location of the University in North Carolina makes it equitable for my longevity to study and explore. The University is private and allows many students of various categories, likes, aspirations, and capabilities to interact on academic issues. I consider the universality and serenity of the academic environment within the University. Duke is open to research and learning. It has often linked with other universities as the United Methodist University in research. Moreover, it appreciates and embraces new challenges of life in the sphere of learning. These are part of the desire and passion in me.
