Admission Essay

I understand that a career in international relations is not an easy job. I also fully understand that there are going to be times where I will be unable to help certain people due to unfavorable circumstances. However, I know in my heart that I will do my best to help as many people as I can with the resources and education that I have at my disposal. I am a hard worker and I am able to contribute my work ethics to anything that I do, including my education.

My interests include finance, politics, sports, travel, as well as a taste for culture. I possess the strengths of being an ambitious and quick learner who loves a challenge. This is why I feel I would be an asset at the London School of Economics.

I was lucky enough to attend high school in Paris and Senegal. After high school, I earned my Associate’s degree in Banking at EPEIGE School of Management. I then sharpened my English skills when I attended school at Toronto International. I am currently attended school at Boston Suffolk Uiversity where I plan to graduate with full honors in May 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in finance. My work experience has also had an impact on my business career in helping me learn the craft. I was lucky enough to work an internship with a bank in Paris called “La Banque Postal” as well as another bank in Senegal called “Societe General”.

The process of becoming a leader requires many factors including personal experience and influenced behavior. Learning from experience creates the most effective leaders. This is because they know what decisions work and what decisions don’t work. They understand the effects of such decisions because they have made them themselves. Being able to pass on such knowledge to a team is an important and required characteristic of an effective leader. I feel in my heart that I possess these qualities because of my past work experience.

I understand the value of loyalty and what it means. I have always treated my peers and others with the up most respect because I know that when you give people respect, you get it back. I have always been loyal to those who have helped me out in life and I know that loyalty can go a long way. I also know that trust is an important factor in loyalty. People around me trust me because I have remained loyal to them even in the toughest situations. Of course, I had to earn this level of trust amongst my peers by first respecting them and contributing what I could to benefit them.

If I am accepted into the London School of Economics, I will take full advantage of the opportunity and educate myself to the best of my ability so that I can apply such lessons to my own life, the lives of others, and my professional career in international relations. I am not pursuing a career in international relations simply earn a pay check as I do not care for the money. I am in this line of work to offer my services to humanity and to society. I believe in equity for society and I want to make a difference in the lives of those who were less fortunate than me. With an education in social work at this university, I know that I can make a difference in the world.
