Academy of Medical Science Technology, Admission Essay Example

Since I was a very young girl, I have always had a passion and curiosity for science. Today all of the modern sciences are developing at a rapid rate and technology based industries are growing exponentially. I truly believe my generation is entering into a technological renaissance (Nugent & Lindburg, 2015); and through attending one of the science and technology programs at Bergen County Academy, I can prepare to contribute to the growth happening during this exciting time in history.

I specifically want to attend the Academy of Medical Science Technology or the Academy for Advancement of Science and Technology because I feel these are the programs that could best expand my current achievements in math and sciences.  While I have maintained a straight A average in all of my courses, math and science courses have always been the ones that further my desire to learn (Joensen & Nielsen, 2015). My father is a computer Engineer and works as a CFO in the branch office of a multinational company and my mother is a science graduate in microbiology. I plan to follow their footsteps in my studies and to eventually work in the science and technology sector.

The Bio Chemistry and AP Physics courses your institution provides are of particular interest to me because they fall in line with the current scientific climate of the world. The medical industry is merging with other sciences such as software and mechanical engineering and seeing an influx of innovation. Bionic limbs, revolutionary vaccines, stem cell research and a wide range of other focuses within this field of study intrigue me.  I also feel as though physics is a neglected science that has substantial applications in the world today especially considering the new leaps industries are making in aeronautical achievements and enhancing the human capacity for space exploration (Vivian, 2015).

I don’t deny that I have monumental goals for my life, but I also know I am willing to do the work necessary to achieve these goals. I base this knowledge on my academic track record to date. I have been an active Member of the National Junior Honors Society since 6th Grade, and started providing service as a Peer Tutor, in Grade 7 and 8, as part of the National Junior Honor Society. The National Junior Honor Society is a premier organization that provides homework assistance, leadership and character mentoring for other students. From the 5^th grade up through my current 8^th grade semester, I have maintained maximum honors; and if admitted to Bergen County Academy, I intend to keep with this same standard of academic performance.

Extracurricular Activities

Academic achievement is a priority for me but my family has always instilled in me the value of being well rounded. I have been a member of the Union School choir, a member of the school band, a member of the safety patrol, a library intern and now after many years of study I can now read and write four different languages. I am also a member of the Friends of Rachel’s Club, an organization that focuses on eliminating prejudice and building character. I am also a member of the BAPS organization which has consultative status with the United Nations.
