The overall issue of the client is the management of anxiety from the uncertainty of future events. She fears that something bad may happen in the future, which may embarrass her to her community. She needs to see growth and everything to move on smoothly, and perhaps that is why she was able to settle when she left the community. She fears the unknown, which is getting afraid when there is no future information on what might happen. Some of the signs of the fear of the unknown are anxiety or even the eating disorder that was affecting the client.
The theory of stress and coping focuses on how people are able to have a management of the stress in their lives. People deal with stress in different ways depending on the preferences of the personal space and the demands in the environment. Dealing with stress is always a dynamic process that may change from time to time, but it is essential to know a threat and deal with it (Ortega-Maldonado & Salanova, 2018). Stress theory explains the observations about some stress and the social life that happens. The stage that Susanna fails in managing stress is resistance to change that happens around her in daily life. If stress is made long, the diseases may have a hard time dealing with the stressor.
Susanna’s needs are long-term, considering the condition had stabilized and caught up with her the time she settled in her community for the second time. One of the short-term needs is having a psychologist closely look at her so that she does not lose her mind in dealing with the stress. She also needs to have a good follow-up of exercises to remain active in her life (Chen et al., 2018). The long-term needs are that she needs to get support from the husband who can control her anxiety in the changes that she experiences in her life. She needs to visit the psychologist together with the husband to give the full information and be advised on how to have a follow-up.
The client’s strength is that she can follow the psychologists’ instructions very easily. She is also able to listen to other people, and thus boosting her mental capacity is very easy. She is also able to deal with her problems without involving other people. The barriers that may limit the client’s progress are her husband’s less care and the inability to speak out. The husband needs to be considerate of following her wife’s needs, especially at the time of transition, and also ensure she can talk to the husband about the problems.
The community is a free place where people can be able to relive their stress and anxiety. The client should find a place to walk every evening to view the nature of the community in terms of distancing and coping with the reactions of life. The community should also make sure they take time and resources to educate people on how to manage their stress and how to interact with others freely (DeLongis & O’Brien, 2018). It is essential to take time to unwind and talk to other people while trusting how one feels. It is natural for people to feel stressed, but management matters.
Solving the issue will be marked by progress over a long period of time to ensure the patient’s long-term needs have been met. It is essential to have a good follow-up of the client, notice any small changes being made, and rectify them. New Jersey embraces the treatment of patients who are not mentally stable so that they can regain their stable state (Ortega-Maldonado & Salanova, 2018). There is a policy from the federal states that psychologists are expected to be serious and persistent with mental illness to dignify lives. As a psychologist, the follow-up should be very tight for development to be made.
