I have been doing academically really well as a computer science undergraduate student at Kansas State University (KSU) and my GPA shows it. When I started my undergraduate career, my priority was to maximize my learning during four years of college so that I could build a strong foundation for my entrepreneurial ambitions. While I have enjoyed my classes at Kansas State University, I would prefer more challenging courses that help me realize my true potential by pushing me to the edge which is why I am interested in resuming my computer science studies at your university which has one of the most renowned computer science programs in the nation.

Learning doesn’t only take place inside classrooms but also outside it. I am also attracted to your university’s strategic location in a major city which is home to a number of local and global organizations. Being in a big city will not only provide me access to valuable internship and work opportunities but will also be instrumental towards building an effective professional network. My commitment to learning can be judged by the fact that I didn’t wait to finish college before pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams and it has been one of the wisest decisions of my life. I currently own an online company called SiteBend.com which provides online and web security to clients. Most of my clients have been repeat customers and my work experiences have played a major role in my decision to resume my computer science studies at your university, with a major emphasis on cyber security.

Anyone who is in touch with the current and emerging trends can anticipate the tremendous growth in cyber security in both short and long terms. Companies are now losing billions because of inadequate cyber security systems at place and commercial opportunities for cyber security companies not only lie in the private sector but also the public sector. Even the U.S. Government is not oblivious to the cyber threats and is committing tremendous resources to protect the nation’s online infrastructure. Thus, my future plans include a major focus on the government clients whose systems are quite complicated and where any breach results in catastrophic costs. The U.S. Government understands it doesn’t have the manpower and/or the intellectual capital to adequately protect itself, thus, it will increasingly rely on online security solution provides in the private sector.
As I already implied, I am a huge believer in the value of out-of-class learning opportunities. As a student at your university, I will not only study under some of the finest computer science professors in the country or interact with smart fellow students but will also actively engage in on-campus student organizations. At KSU, my leadership qualities helped me become secretary of Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and I also have volunteered with community service organizations such as Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. On-campus student organizations have also helped me further develop my teamwork, communication, and cross-cultural skills and all of these soft skills are essential for success in the real world. In fact, the success of SiteBender.com also has to do a great deal with my strong communication skills which enable me to properly understand my clients’ needs and offer appropriate security solutions.

I have no doubt I will be a great addition to the university’s community. My unique academic and work background will also benefit my fellow students and it is highly likely some of them become my partners in establishing a major online and web security company.
