In the recent past, the use of internet and computers to conduct business in form of e-business has become a common feature of business. Companies have been consequently been empowered in linking the internal to external systems of data processing thus enhancing flexibility as well as efficiency and increase the level of collaboration with the business partners and suppliers and achieve higher satisfaction of customers. Supply chain management has not been left out in this automation. This has been associated with integration of crucial processes of the business from the end user through the suppliers as well as information that plays a crucial role in value addition for the clients as well as the entire stakeholders in the business. SCM is relevant in the coordination, scheduling as well as controlling procurement, inventories, production as well as products and services delivery to the clients (Asanka, 2007).

The use of E-SCM entails order treatment, production organization, management of stock, management of transportation and delivery, management of inventory, management of payments as well as customer service. The use of e-business in this regard involves integration of a platform that supports communication as well as sharing of information between individual businesses as well as between customers and business (Flynn, Huo & Zhao 2010). This leads to the streamlining of processes in business and enhancement of performance in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. To achieve success in implementation of e-business, a careful consideration of e-business security is imperative. This means that, the accessible information must be secure and controlled. The security of the online transactions has been a significant impediment in the adoption of e-business in supply chain management. Businesses are therefore obligated to prove to their stakeholders that security of e-business transactions is guaranteed.
