From Lynn University to Miami University Transfer, Personal Statement Example

Personal Statement

I come from a family with a rich tradition of arts and media. My grandfather, Sergio Leone was a popular Italian film director, producer, and screenwriter in the 1970s. I have heard stories about my grandfather how he would always advise family members to meet people from national ethnic and cultural backgrounds and learn about life by travelling the world. Thus, I have also developed a passion for people and cultures and one of the things I noticed during my campus visit to University of Miami was its rich cultural diversity. In addition, I also believe that the quality of learning also depends upon the quality of instructors and work opportunities made available by a university. Fortunately, University of Miami excels in both areas and not only will I have the opportunity to be taught by world-class instructors but also access to the university’s strong professional network.

We improve more as human beings when we are exposed to challenging experiences and pushed to the boundaries of our potential. This is also one of the reasons I am attracted to the University of Miami because here I will lead a more challenging student life, with opportunities to not only develop my technical skills but also soft skills such as communication, people skills, and cross-cultural understanding. The reputation of the university is a testament to the fact that the university has a history of producing graduates that have gone on to excel in their respective professions. As my family has taught me, the environment and the company we keep play a huge role in our personal growth and personality development.

I have friends who have been to University of Miami and they always speak great things about the university. They often tell me that this has been one of their best decisions in life because they could never have predicted how much they would grow on a personal level in only few years. Some even say that their experience at the University of Miami has changed their definition of what education is supposed to be and they now have much better and more objective understanding of the world around us. It is only natural that I would be attracted to University of Miami because I personally found them to be improved and more mature individuals.

I am really excited at the prospect of becoming a part of the university’s community and hope to contribute towards the university’s learning environment. I believe I will be a great ambassador of the university in the real world and become another example of how a great university builds great individuals.
