GCSE Coursework

Introduction

The United States healthcare system continues to evolve and to grow in scope due to ever-changing global conditions. The global burden of many diseases impact the system in significant ways and frame many of the decisions that are made regarding resource allocation and other needs. These conditions reflect a need for the US healthcare system to effectively adapt and to provide support to patients who face these risks. Global disease burden is a critical component of US healthcare practice and provides a basis for examining the different needs that patients require through doctor and hospital visits.

Analysis

There are many areas that burden the US healthcare system, such as critical care and illness and their associated costs (Adhikari et.al, 2010). These conditions require an examination of the different challenges associated with the practice environment and how to alleviate some of the costs and the expansion of prevention efforts to avoid situations that may contribute to increases in critical care (Adhikari et.al, 2010). Furthermore, mental health and substance abuse also contribute to this burden and an increased allocation of resources to prevent long-term and permanent consequences (Whiteford et.al, 2013). Diabetes and obesity also reflect the demand for significant resource allocation in order to provide high quality care and treatment to patients, using US-based healthcare resources (Wang et.al, 2011; Zhang et.al, 2010). Advanced practice nurses must work collaboratively with other healthcare providers in order to ensure that the requirements of the Affordable Care Act are achieved through legislative awareness and commitment to ensure that APNs are able to practice with the necessary resources to treat their patients. The delivery of healthcare through advanced practice solutions is critical in maintaining high quality care and treatment for patients, as well as advocacy in order to meet healthcare needs effectively.

Conclusion

The US healthcare system has been able to acclimate to different global health issues in recent decades; however, this burden continues to increase in scope and require additional resources that may not necessarily be available. Therefore, it is important for those practicing with the field to provide a basis for examining new ideas and constructs that may positively impact overall health through improved resource allocation and other efforts to accommodate patient health and wellbeing.
