Abstract

Fathers ought to be the stronghold of the family. It could not be denied that through time, this feature of family arrangements have already gradually changed. What makes such point of change distinctive of the traditional family arrangement is that they are becoming less capable of handling their familial responsibilities and this has caused the downfall of many family units. This sad truth has created a more definite term of assistance that are designed to support the need of fathers to be supported with their responsibilities. In this article critique and analysis presentation, measuring the real value of fatherhood and how their stand in the face of social development could be further supported shall be given particular attention to. Through the use of the journal in focus, it could be analyzed that families, as lead by supported fathers, are expected to survive further challenges from the society’s pressing points of development.

Introduction

Responsible parenthood is a constant issue that is faced by fathers who have been subjected to particular situations that included a definite turn of events especially in determining a more convincing route that attests to the need of providing the basic demands of the children. Noticeably, through time, the number of fathers who are subjected to the pressures and stresses of being able to provide good financial support to the family while also becoming its stronghold increases in rate every year. The sad fact is that a large percentage of this population is still too young to handle the said pressures.

In the journal article completed by Jay Fagan and Rebecca Kaufman, a distinct presentation of how self-supported personal challenges of fathers in responsible fatherhood programs have been used to create a more defined indication of how fathers ought to handle their responsibilities towards their children and their families as a whole. This journal article introduces a new found relief that could help fathers survive the pressures of a married and identifiable form of family-life; one that successfully creates a connection between members of the family as the whole unit struggles to face the challenges of the society.

Purpose of Research

It is the primary purpose of this research to become more effective especially in identifying a more constructive process by which modern aspects of fatherhood are explored and the real pressures are exposed so as to know how to strengthen fathers in the way they handle their responsibilities to the society. The programs set to help fathers through social-psychological approaches is also given specific concern in this documentation, thus creating a more defined pattern or guideline as to how modern families could be helped through support systems that could be made available for them to embrace.

Theories

It is assumed that the consideration over risk factors of stressful fatherhood contributes to the rise of the number of families being broken and marriages being ended in divorce. Hence, to provide resolution to the said rising problem, it is considered in this article that strengthening and empowering the fathers would further strengthen the families directly; the way the fathers handle the pressures in their own personal lives, their marriages and their familial responsibilities is expected to create a massive impact on how families are able to thrive through time.

Research Method

The method adapted by the researchers for this study includes reference-based researches and actual case dependencies. Nine fatherhood programs were created and at least 91 fathers were recruited to join in. The fathers who were included in the research were mostly single fathers and fathers who have low-income living. Considerably, the way the consideration over the situation of the fathers and their connection with their children was established to fully direct the study towards achieving its purpose. Among the 91 participants, 71 fathers finished the program [from whom the data analyzed for the research has been taken from]. This quantitative form of data allowed for more room of improvement that attested to the condition by which the fathers who were given the chance to be included in the program were given a better perspective about families and their established status.

Results

Based from the data collected in the study, 6.83 points of challenges were recorded to have fully affected the level of concentration the fathers have on the responsibilities they have to handle in the family. Noticeably, it could be realized that somehow, the condition of development that the world takes into account have been observed to strongly impact the perception over fatherhood and its importance in the establishment of strong familial structures. Unemployment was seemingly one of the most depicted challenges that had great effect on fatherhood; hence, imposing that it ought to be given attention to, especially by program-creators who make a definite turn on how fathers are to be supported and given the chance to live better lives with their families through a well-defined indication of developmental fatherhood.

Summary Statement

The journal article impacts a rather large number of individuals in the society today; making it a valid source of useful information. Fathers ought to be supported well, financially, emotionally and mentally. This goal does not only aim to strengthen the fathers handle their responsibilities but also to empower the families to become more concerned on how they are able to define their ways of reassessing the possibilities of saving the basic unit of social foundation into becoming a stronghold of proper social development.

Pursuing a more defined pattern of supporting fathers in the way they handle their familial and challenges of being married makes a more definite form of supporting the social growth into a more solid form of development. Hence, this concludes that the research presentation handled in this study does create a more defined indication of how families could be well protected at present amidst the rising challenges of living in a modern world.
