My Reasons for Applying to University, Admission Essay Example

For many people, applying to a university is motivated mainly by the prospect of being able to increase one’s qualifications and become eligible for more prestigious and better compensated employment positions. While I cannot deny that this is also part of my priorities, my greatest impetus in wishing to take up Global Legal Studies in your university is my ambition of becoming a lawyer and serving as an advocate for neglected and abused children. I have always thought of education to be the key mover of society. In line with this, I believe that it is the responsibility of every individual to maximize his or her intellectual potential and seek its furthest development, so that he or she can fulfill a role in society that can be of greatest benefit to its members. It is with this foremost in mind that I seek entry to your prestigious university. It is my utmost conviction that by taking up Global Legal Studies at your university, I will be able to develop myself considerably, and eventually take up a significant role as a professional in our legal system, where I can be of considerable service to others.

Secondly, I wish to apply to your university for my higher education studies because of many good things that I have heard about your programs on legal studies, and because of my experiences at your university when I attended the spring 2010 open house. During that event, I was enamored by the beautiful campus. The historical buildings gave me a humbling feeling; it felt like I standing before the greatness of previous generations that have entered them. When I got home after the open house, I could not stop thinking about your institution, especially the very friendly and accommodating atmosphere that I saw permeated the entire campus. People knew each other by name, and acted like they were a part of a close-knit community whose members genuinely valued one another. Having gone to schools that offered a similar atmosphere, I realized that I immediately felt at home with your university. That was when I became certain of where I wish to pursue my university studies. I look forward to being a productive member of your community, to participate in your volunteer programs and to later on experience your fabled study abroad program which has been praised highly by many people I know. I earnestly hope that you will consider my application to your university.
